About Around Find Out

I’m building Around Find Out around a practical goal: make useful software that is carefully built and affordable to more people. Each app should have a clear job and make the next step easier to understand.

The subjects can be very different. Some apps help people inspect public information; others help them plan their time or keep a record of what matters to them. Each product has its own name, purpose, and character.

I put effort into foundations that can be reused where they make sense. That gives me more room to focus on the details that are specific to each app, and it helps keep capable software within reach.

Good architecture should show up in ordinary ways: an app that stays understandable, works reliably, and treats people’s time and information with care.

When an app uses public records, it should show where they came from and make gaps or uncertainty visible. A missing record should not quietly become a claim that nothing is there.

When an app holds personal information, people should be able to understand where it is kept and when another service is involved. The specifics belong with each product.

I want useful software to be affordable. Pricing can differ from app to app, and each product should explain its own free features and any paid options plainly.

The people and projects behind public information deserve clear credit. These are the public data sources behind the apps named below.

A source credit identifies where information came from. It does not imply that the source endorses an app.

Camera location records are contributed to OpenStreetMap by its community. Camera data © OpenStreetMap contributors. OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0).

FlockHopper’s deflock-data project distributes the camera tiles used by the app. We credit that distribution work separately from the people who contribute the underlying map data.

Community-mapped records may be incomplete or out of date. A mapped record does not establish whether a camera is active or scanning.

AI AFO presents publicly documented facility information from these sources. Its coverage is partial; a facility missing from the app is not evidence that it does not exist.

Individual facts in the app can carry original source links, dates, and qualifications. The company credit here is an overview of the providers.

These credits focus on public data. Other apps may work primarily with information entered by the person using them. Each app should also carry the credits and context relevant to its own version.
